We are living in the era of building information society now days. Geographical
information systems are an element of information society and basis for development
of regions and communes. Local development is considered as territorial development.
This concept necessitates the integration of societies and building the local identity. It
is also the basis for building a civil society, deciding together with the local authorities
about the goals of local politics.
This article is attempt to present possible use of land information systems to build
relationships among local actors. It becomes attempt to indicate that spatially referenced
information can be the basis for the development of relations in the homeland.
Grounds for such use of land information system have been written in Polish and European
Union law. The second reason is Internet, which is a tool for information flow.
