Geografia wobec krytycznej teorii społecznej: doświadczenia i perspektywy. Czy w Polsce potrzebujemy geografii krytycznej?
Abstract
Przedstawia m.in. środowisko skupione wokół czasopisma „Antipode” oraz podejście Międzynarodowej Grupy Geografii Krytycznej, podsumowując także dyskusje wokół relacji między geografią krytyczną i geografią radykalną. Podkreślając znaczenie kontekstu, w jakim funkcjonowały i funkcjonują środowiska geografów krytycznych w różnych regionach i krajach świata, właśnie w nim upatruje powodów braku zainteresowania podejściem krytycznym wśród polskich geografów. The author pretends to explain reasons of the lack of critical approach within present‐day Polish human geography and to discuss the need of its wider inclusion in the discipline. The first part of the text presents impacts of critical theory on social sciences and its importance for the emergence and development of critical geography word wide. Critical geographers gathered around „Antipode” as well as International Critical Geography Group have been mentioned along with other critical groups, and the discussion on the scope and meaning of critical geography nowadays and its relation to radical geography and other approaches, including feminist geography have been summarized. The author stresses the role of contexts contributing to the emergence of critical geography circles in different parts of the world and she sees the Polish transformation context as the main factor limiting critical approach among Polish human geographers. She states it is badly needed now due to challenges of teaching geography on all the school and academic levels as well as to the absence of geographers’ voices in the emerging critical discussions on the effects of social and economic transformation in the country. Participation in that discussion could possibly improve the visibility of the discipline and strengthen its position among social sciences.
