Stereotypy na temat wyznawców islamu na obszarze byłej Jugosławii
Abstract
The text describes stereotypes about Muslim believers in the post-Yugoslav area. The author
presents some theoretical assumptions about the theory of stereotype as long as selected trends
in studies about the image of the “other”. Secondly, the paper examines common stereotypes
about Balkan followers of Islam shared by Serbs, Croats, Slovenes and Macedonians. It seems
that all those narratives are very similar and one can describe them as the Oriental stereotype,
which occurs in various parts of the world, not only in the Balkans.
