O immersyjności escape roomów. Przykład pokoi Tick Tack w Gliwicach
Julke-Bogacka, Katarzyna
Escape room (ER) is a live cooperative game in which players need to find a way out of a closed room, or to reach an additional goal by solving a series of riddles and puzzles, in a set amount of time. So far there have been few publications on ERs, particularly in Polish game studies. This paper is an attempt at filling this gap. The history of ERs is described briefly, and the claim is made that the reason for the success and popularity of selected ERs is their immersivity. The rooms of the company Tick Tack, which is located in Gliwice, are used as examples to discuss the topic of ER immersivity and the conditions that a room should meet to engage players fully. The analysis is based on relevant literature and on the author’s own experiences with ERs.; Escape room (ER) to rodzaj kooperacyjnej gry rozgrywanej na żywo.

Live Streaming Platforms and the Critical Discourse About Video Games
Felczak, Mateusz
This work concerns online streaming platforms centered on broadcasting video games-related content, such as Twitch.tv and Douyu.com. The aim of this article is two-fold: first, to point out the possible research methods regarding online streaming services as mediums for video game criticism, and second, to assess the potential of these platforms for generating critical discourse about video games. The methodology of the research is based on Mia Consalvo’s take on paratextual frameworks and Veli-Matti Karhulahti’s notions of interview and play frames regarding the activity of video games streaming. In this article, the initial characterization of Twitch.tv and Douyu.com is followed by an analysis on how the work of streamers as content creators can influence the reception of video games. Afterwards, a reading of analyzed phenomena based on paratextual framework is proposed. The last section juxtaposes the initial findings with the perspective of changing viewership figures in relation to selected ludic properties of games. In conclusion, it is stated that the analyzed streaming platforms reflect the proliferating crowdsource trends in the video game industry, with forms of interacting with the product at various stages of its development cycle establishing new practices of talking in and about video games.

Niechcący zrobiłam "Dark Souls" – gry wideo w instytucjach kultury z perspektywy twórcy i groznawcy
Bakun, Martyna
Innovative technological solutions are becoming more and more popular in cultural institutions. Among such novelties as interactive exhibitions, specially designed applications, virtual tours, and augmented reality there is also a place for video games. This results in the emergence of new groups of game users, which leads to questions about the methods of designing this type of games. Based on her own experience and an analysis of the video game market, the author presents a strategy for designing video games that might be used in promoting cultural institutions. The important point in the analysis is designing engaging games for players usually uninterested in this medium. Elements taken into account include the use of commonly available design rules in the context of the discussed type of games, platform selection, choice of aesthetics, designing of mechanics, and testing.; Innowacyjne rozwiązania technologiczne cieszą się coraz większą popularnością w instytucjach kultury.
